Everyone loves and anticipates Halloween with the parties and programs prepared specially for this season. And with Halloween, it’s the only time of the year where you don’t need an excuse to dress whatever or whoever you want to look like.
Shrek has become one of the most sought out characters for people to dress up during Halloween and everybody adores an ogre with Shrek ears. You have to anticipate the clothes you will be wearing, at least a week ahead because you don’t want to miss your opportunity of sporting your desired Shrek costume. These kind of famous costumes are difficult to catch its supply when you buy on the eleventh hour. And unfortunately, most costume sets fail to include the Shrek ears so don’t forget to have one for yourself.
Get To Know Shrek
It is ideal that you research and have a good background of the character you would want to portray. It’s more likely you have seen the Shrek movie several times already and it’s still better if you refresh your memory and watch the film again before dressing up into the Shrek costume. Learn a little bit about him, particularly on how he talks and acts. Practice mimicking his moves like walking and doing that ogre look. In this way, you’ll be able to make it more realistic and ogre-ish
Get into the Costume
The Shrek costume is relatively simple to create. Basically, Shrek’s look includes a big stomach, bald head and green colored skin. It is a long, tedious yet fun process when you paint your legs, neck, face and arms with green. Kids enjoy this especially when they’re made to dress up like Shrek. You can also opt to get a green overall and green gloves or mitts to cover all portions of your body with green. That is if you want to avoid all the hassle of painting your body. Additionally, use some green make-up on your neck and face. Use a bald wig and paint it green, too. Alternatively, a green swimming cap or any colored swimming cap that you will paint green can be used if you don’t want to buy a bald wig.
Clothes
Tight brown pants and white long-sleeved shirt are basically Shrek’s style of clothes. These are easy to find items so it wouldn’t be difficult for you to get one. Brown tights are more advised over a pair of skinny jeans. Then, put on a pair of dark brown boots.
Finally, the outfit is almost complete. The only thing that is missing is a pair of Shrek ears.
Shrek Ears
Complete your Ogre look with Shrek ears!
Headband, green construction paper and glue are the only materials needed in making Shrek’s ears. Search and print a copy of his ears if you don’t have any idea what it looks like. Trace the ears on the construction paper and cut it out. Wrap your headband with a wide strip of construction paper and attach the ears to the sides of the headband using the glue. Allow the glue to dry before using it.
The Shrek costume is truly one of a great thought for the Halloween. Don’t limit your creativity and resourcefulness in creating your Shrek costume.
